Writer's Block: Meant to Be?
More and more each day, it seems... because some things are just too coincidental to be coincidence. Current Mood: sleepy | | Saturday, March 7th, 2009 | | 12:23 pm |
Writer's Block: Comped
The best compliment I ever received was when I was getting my first pair of glasses - keep in mind I was 16, super awkward, and had super low self-esteem The man helping me with my glasses was chatting with me while he adjusted the frames looked at me and said "Do you know what the difference between pretty and beautiful is? Take a nice pretty girl like you... now smile - and you're beautiful" Also, "I miss you", said by anyone, is pretty high up there too. | | Saturday, December 20th, 2008 | | 6:53 am |
ahhh, flying
Quick entry to make use of ROC's free wireless. Seeing as most airports charge, i can appreciate it. My flight to detroit should be boarding any minute. It's due to take off at 7:30. Seeing as that was when I was originally supposed to *arrive* in Detroit, I had to change my connection. I'll get into SF ~2 hours later.... But I have a first class seat on the ~5 hour flight from Detroit to SF. I can deal with that! ROC was the busiest i have *ever* seen it. Flux of holiday travelling, plus people who I'm sure had their flights cancelled yesterday, plus I can see at least two flights cancelled today and a bunch of late flights. The ticket counters were the bottle neck. Once I took the five minutes to have her re-book me on the later flight (did i mention first class?) going through security was quick and now i'm just waiting to board. Dunno if I'll be on at all when I'm home. I'll be back in NY late the 26th. Happy holidays! Current Mood: tired | | Friday, December 19th, 2008 | | 6:32 pm |
Pre-holiday entry..... go!
i'm doing my standard "hey i'm leaving for california in 12 hours i should probably pack" bit. not that it really matters. throw a bunch of clothes in one bag, throw toiletries and stuff to keep me entertained in the other. annnnnnd..... go. so, i'm going to finish packing, going to do some cleaning, make sure the books are balanced and the bills are paid, and then play guild wars until i have to leave for the airport. weeee wintersday. (which reminds me - Jim, you should totally not wait until the new year to get back to playing GW. Wintersday! You know you want to!) I decided i'm going to bring my computer with me, i don't know how much i'll be online (or how good an internet connection I'll have), but at least if i'm stuck hanging out at the motel i'll have something to do. sooooo.... man it's snowed a lot today. better today than tomorrow, but i just hope it doesn't screw up my flight stuff for tomorrow I'm really looking forward to being in SF.... even though, as usual, i'm going to spend too much money. I hope everyone has a lovely holiday this year. I'll be back in Rochester late the 26th. Assuming i don't miss my connection (it's only a half hour connection and it's winter.... not my fault, the airlines messed with their flights and changed my itinerary around, and as a result, i only have a half hour) Current Mood: bouncy | | Saturday, November 15th, 2008 | | 1:12 pm |
On my drive home just now, I literally caught myself thinking "I only have two hours to get ready!" Just in case there was any question as to whether I am, in fact, female. Current Mood: energetic | | Sunday, November 2nd, 2008 | | 8:02 am |
I really need to learn how to relax. I truly, physically do not know how to relax. I was so tense yesterday (don't know why, just was) that today, I feel like I did some heavy working out. I'm guessing it's probably unhealthy to be so tense that I'm *sore* afterward. Current Mood: sore | | Sunday, October 19th, 2008 | | 11:17 pm |

i'm posting because i haven't in awhile. that's really it. Some random goals that I've been thinking about. *I want to write more *I want to wake up earlier *I want to go to the gym more often (it's right freaking there, i mean COME ON amber!) *I want to do my hair and makeup before work (this is dependent on the waking up earlier) *I want to stick to the budget I make (I've been pretty good about this lately) *I want to keep in touch/actually talk to my friends *I want to really clean my apartment *I want to plan my meals and shop for groceries accordingly *I want to read more *I want to get my CPR certification *I want to finish the latest puzzle I started That's all I can think of right now. I'm sure there are more. and I'm sure I could elaborate on these. Maybe I will sometime soon. Anyone want to go see Choke with me at the Little on Friday? | | Saturday, June 21st, 2008 | | 9:16 am |
Birthday Stuffs!
I had a wonderful birthday yesterday! Although, the celebration started early. I did a lot of celebrating on Thursday because Pete had to work yesterday. He took me out to Tokyo for sushi (WOW, Tokyo has a horrible webpage), then we met up with Brad, Guy, Mary, George, and Lara for some bowling, which was fun even though I'm awful at it, then we went to Phillips for dessert. OH! I forgot, Pete bought me Boom Blox for the Wii which is awesome fun. It was in general, an excellent birthday celebration. Yesterday, for my actual birthday, George and Lara took me out to Tasteology in Pittsford. We went there on a recommendation from my boss, and it was really good. We had some yummy appetizers (pita wedges with tappenade, guacamole, and hummus) delicious dinner, the salad I got had a yummy dressing, some really tasty wine, and a little lemon meringue tart for dessert. The place really reminded me of home, and it was wonderful. Then we went and got coffee and walked around Barnes and Noble and Pittsford Plaza. Then, we went back to George's apartment and played Boom Blox, which, as mentioned earlier, is awesome. My dad bought me the book Is Belief In God Good, Bad, or Irrelevant?, which is a collection of email correspondence between Greg Graffin (lead singer of Bad Religion) and a history professor at a small Christian university. I've read a little bit of it and am already enjoying it, and my dad asked me to bring it home so he can read it at Christmas. The agenda for today and tomorrow morning is to take it easy and relax - I leave for Boston tomorrow afternoon, and will be back Wednesday evening. Bad Religion!
Sooooo..... Who wants to go see Bad Religion with me in Buffalo on Oct 12 (it's a Friday)? I don't want to miss it but I don't want to go alone, either! Current Music: "Stranger Than Fiction" - Bad Religion | | Tuesday, August 14th, 2007 | | 10:24 pm |
unmade in china
So, I just wanted to draw people's attention to a community I just joined - unmade_in_china. It's a challenge to go a month without buying anything made in china. I've been kind of slowly trying to not buy things made in China for awhile (and, similarly, made in the US rather than made abroad). I thought I'd pass it along to any other interested parties. | | Monday, August 6th, 2007 | | 6:18 pm |
Happy birthday to the fabulously awesome Alex! Eventually, we will hang out at some point, in a land far, far away... | | Saturday, July 21st, 2007 | | 9:31 am |
So, who's going to lend me their copy of Harry Potter when they're done with it? And if anyone tells me anything spoilerriffic about it before hand, i will smack them. if i can avoid spoilers on the internet, you guys can not talk to me about it until i'm done ,k? | | Tuesday, May 29th, 2007 | | 11:28 pm |
hooray for 3 hour long dizzy spell. pete's making me go to the doctor tomorrow morning. hopefully they can get me in right away. | | Sunday, May 27th, 2007 | | 9:55 am |
So, I don't drink much soda, but I know some of you do. Check out this article: http://news.independent.co.uk/health/article2586652.ece Stolen from someone else on my frineds list. Too lazy to do the whole nice link-y thing. In other news, we have our couch! (Barely - the delivery guys almost gave up on getting it inside.) It is super awesome. And the end tables and coffee tables are nice. All of the furniture looks so much bigger in our living room than it did in the show room, but it's really nice. And our living room looks like *Gasp* a living room! And then we went to Staples so I could get the same glass desk that Pete has - and we discovered that the desk and the file cabinet/printer stand that we were going to get at a later time were on sale, WEE. So we got those. The printer stand took freaking forever to put together. And in other news - Pete is awesome for disconnecting the desktop when it was on my old desk, moving the old desk, moving the new desk in, and setting everything up for me! I just sorta passed out last night and didn't expect everything set up all pretty when I woke up. So, other than that, I think I'm going to start playing Guild Wars. So, let me know if anyone plays it. Current Mood: okayCurrent Music: ...the whirr of many computers in a room that echoes... | | Monday, February 26th, 2007 | | 10:02 am |
Punch an' Pie!
Hey hey - to all the Queen of Wands fans that I know. Just in case you didn't know, Aeire has a new comic, Punch an' Pie. It appears to focus on Angela... WEE! AND, just to my squeeing fangirlish delight, it's written by Aeire, but drawn by Chris Daily, who does Striptease. Of course, I just tried to go to Striptease, and it doesn't seem to be working.... eh well. He's awesome though! Just in time, because Loserz has been on the back burner and there are only so many comics I follow on a regular basis.... I think I needed another one :) Current Mood: geeky |
